Pros

- Usually a friendly and positive work environment - Product smells good and is fun to demo/try on yourself - Scheduling and working around your availability is flexible - Co-workers are great! I have never worked with such cool, friendly, genuinely nice people - Because there is no commission or individual sales goals, the sales team works together and supports each other

Cons

- Management definately plays favourites. This shows in who gets promoted, who gets the most hours, who gets the best shifts, and who gets the best positions/zones in store. It also shows even on the mics when management is joking around with their favourite sales associates and berating others for not moving fast enough - Because of the often hectic environment, management and sales leads can get quite stressed and begin to take their anger out on associates, in a way that makes it seem as if its the associate's fault that the segment is not being made. This is a team effort and management needs to remember that. They need to deal with falling sales figures in a more professional and positive way, and encourage employees rather than nagging and whining about them. Remember that employees only make $9/hour. Stop expecting effort that's worth more than that, otherwise, pay your employees more! - Pay is average for retail (which in Vancouver is low). I do feel that overnight floor sets should be compensated for higher, since there is physical work involved and they are over night - Often have to stay late if closing, and management will purposefully clock you out so you are not paid the extra time you stayed. Not a huge deal, but it happens almost every single time I close and I am not even asked to stay late or thanked for it, I am just expected to. - Your paid 15 minute breaks are almost never given, unless requested (and if you request your break, a fuss is made about how difficult it is to figure out a time for break.) 30 minute breaks are smetimes entirely skipped a well - The schedule only comes out once per week rather than bi-weekly

Pros

Great brand to work for! Corporate leaders are great at motivating team down to associate level. (Not sure about Daniel yet though, I’m mostly referring to the tentured leadership team) There’s access to tools that offer clear communication (almost too much communication sometimes). Development is the core of this brand and managers are trained to foster internal talent when it’s identified. The product sold here is cherished by a huge fanbase as well- customers feed off of the excitement the associates have around the product.

Cons

Operationally demanding and challenging; don’t underestimate how much labor and planning goes into selling candles and lotion.
