Pros

Non-management associates at Bath & Body Works receive a 30% discount off of non-sale merchandise, which is something, but considering how much these products are probably worth, it could be a whole lot better. Full-time management receives a 40% discount. Really, though, there is only so much lotion and shower gel a person needs. The company has gotten better about giving associates free samples or "gratis" of products...it's a good thing, too, because with what the associates make, how can they afford the products?

Cons

I've worked at Bath & Body Works for a long time, mostly during college and to supplement my full-time income. I'm really not sure, though, who the position of sales associate is ideal for. My salary is embarrassing, not even a dollar above my state's minimum wage. According to company policy, sales associates are only scheduled for 3-4-5 hour shifts (so breaks are not necessary, and associates don't become "fatigued"). Is it really worth going to work for 3 hours? Often, associates are placed "on-call" when they have to call an hour before their scheduled shift to see if they are needed based on the business. In recent years, hours are STRICTLY monitored and I believe management is rewarded if they meet the company's expectations by limiting hours. Shoppers may be surprised to learn that a) no one works on commission considering how pushy we are forced to be and b) most stores only have 1-3 full-time employees who are eligible to receive health insurance.

Pros

Great brand to work for! Corporate leaders are great at motivating team down to associate level. (Not sure about Daniel yet though, I’m mostly referring to the tentured leadership team) There’s access to tools that offer clear communication (almost too much communication sometimes). Development is the core of this brand and managers are trained to foster internal talent when it’s identified. The product sold here is cherished by a huge fanbase as well- customers feed off of the excitement the associates have around the product.

Cons

Operationally demanding and challenging; don’t underestimate how much labor and planning goes into selling candles and lotion.
