Pros
Great benefit, self worthiness in helping patients. After 1yrs around Christmas time you receive a bounce based on your evaluation most time it's between $150-$200. Once you have the hospital insurance which is great you can get your prescription from the pharmacy inside the hospital and it's like crazy cheap.
Cons
Unfortunately within my 4 years of being there working as a tech I went through 2 managers my first manager was great my second manager treated us like we were children like we were not adults. D Mays did not care for her employees she put on a good show but it was always you last the job first and we worked very long very hard hours, she would lie and tell us things that apparently another co-worker said and co-worker said no such thing and it was all in cahoots to do whatever (something new every day, every week ) get done at the expense of anything. Here's a great example she fired AW that had been there ten years for not wearing goggles in the scope room now I'll remind you that that was a rule that only came in effect after she was fired. Here's another example I was in the process of starting school at this time we had a lot of people in and out the doors people leaving people coming well I was getting ready to go to school I took it upon myself to find a part-time job knowing that my hours at Baton Rouge General will not work with my school hours once I obtain that part time job I turned in my two weeks notice given D. Mays my Two Weeks Notice she was quote on quote very concerned asking me why, we'll it was nothing personal so I told her well you know I'm starting school and I just wanted to be proactive because I know that school isn't going to work with my hours working here she replied LM if that's the only reason then I will be happy to work with you, is what she said to me well that was great because working at BRG I was going to make more money so it was a win-win situation well she did she work with me for a couple of months I had 3 more months left of school she called me in the office and the conversation was very clear that I was going to have to take my share of call, call is being on call after work hours if an emergency case occurs well call was 5 p.m. to 6 a.m. , schoo was 530-930pm . I didn't understand how once we had an agreement and understanding and now it was like I was being given this unbearable ultimatum I mean whether I finish school or not I was going to have to pay back my student loan so I chose School. The biggest thing is that I know of a management knew that there was a problem because the turnover rate for employees was high extremely high we was losing nurses 1 a month to a month there was always someone leaving always someone coming with this new manager and it blew my mind how they blamed it on something that didn't have anything to do with the high turnover rate it was her lack of respect for her employees I mean she understood that we were children to the point she was saying what we could and could not eat it was it was hard.
