Discriminatory - PSR III Baystate Health Employee Review

Pros

We are always understaffed so there’s always overtime availability. When you’re short staffed they usually offer critical incentive which is an extra $9.50-$19.00 an hour depending on the shift. The differentials are decent too, we are paid extra for 2nd shift, 3rd shift and all weekend shifts.

Cons

The more you give, the more they’ll take. Once you offer to help with something, they’ll expect you to do it all the time. Management is pretty toxic, and the culture they promote is a “just culture” however it’s extremely punitive. The quality of work you do does not matter as much as how well you are liked. You can take on the additional responsibilities to move up the career ladder, however, if you don’t also kiss up you’ll be passed over for promotions with external candidates or they’ll write you up for minor infractions so you won’t be eligible for a promotion all the while others in your dept will not be written up for the same things. Our department is currently going to engagement meetings with an HR manager because we have filed an ungodly amount of SRS reports and/or corporate compliance complaints about how we have been treated and the wrongs that have happened to us. Our regular HR representative had swept a lot of this under the rug while it was happening over the last year.

Pros

Pay range is well even for starting out

Cons

Not much diversity at all, most employees are of European decent or MIXED. Wouldn't recommend this dept for people who aren't of euro or mixed race. Confidentiality goes out the window, CM's are not team players, Manager cannot lead a team effectively. Too much personal life talk within staff, makes it hard to focus on work when colleagues are busy gathering personal info about you.
