Pros

The company has a welcoming culture that inspired people to work for them. Everyday was different, with a new challenge presented. I looked forward to going to work and completing my tasks. As an entry level intern, I was immediately given full responsibility of installing a large piece of equipment ($750k). This level of responsibility built confidence and pride in what I did, thus encouraging me to be even more enthusiastic about work. Once my first project was complete, I was given a new project with working with suppliers. I was also in charge of managing a team of construction workers while my boss was out.

Cons

The one problem with working for Bechtel is the location of projects. Since they are such a large construction company, the large projects are often in foreign cities or far away regions. By working there, you have to be prepared to move your entire life every 5 years or so. This can be really hard on a family if you have kids in school, who then have to leave their friends multiple times. I had friends at Bechtel who had lived in Iceland for 5 years, then Nigeria for 5 years, then Washington State for 5 years. To have to move to such remote locations can be tiring.
