Pros
-You are fortunate if you get to work amongst nice and easy going colleagues. -The walking path around the building provides a few ounces of joy in your day to get your endorphins flowing, which will hopefully bring you some temporary happiness at this place. -Bosses can be several hours late to work daily and disappear for a few hours around lunch time. If you're a boss, that's a pro for you. -Perks are the free catered food that other co-workers get from big meetings with vendors. They will put it in the cafeteria and everyone will be like vultures and make a mad dash to pick up any leftover scraps. -You can basically get away with anything and not get terminated.
Cons
-Employees know more than their managers do. The managers do basically nothing all day except check reports and get paid double the amount than people under them. They have everyone else do all of their work for them. -If you get told you will be getting a new desk or moving to a new office or space, good luck to you. You will probably end up moving your desk several times while working here. If you get told you will be temporarily in a bad location for a month or two... watch out.. it will be more like a year. -There is always construction and changes for no productive reason. They just like change for the sake of change. If you dare say anything, you will be accused of not being agreeable or adaptable to change and they will loom that over you, and write about it in your yearly review. -New ideas or enhancements are frowned upon and overlooked, yet you are encouraged to think of them and submit them as part of your goals. -Many people at this company are less than ideal to work with. They will take weeks and weeks to call you back, or reply to emails, and when they do, they are nasty. However if YOU ever do not get back to the same person within merely a few hours, they will hunt you down, come to your desk and make a scene, OR they will call up your boss and you will be spoken to about it. -There is no opportunity for growth in your career here. They trick you into thinking you actually are on a career path but it's just a job. -For holiday parties, most other companies treat their employees to a nice meal or cocktail party outside of the office. Here, we have to stay at work and walk around and "mingle" within the hallways. The food tastes like cardboard. The higher ups will come by and try to act relatable to all the peons. -The programs are ancient and outdated. They should invest in upgrading this to the current century, but they don't and won't. This is not a forward-thinking, cutting edge company... contrary to what most people might think. -The HR dept is horrible and doesn't help anyone. They make people's lives more difficult and if anyone says anything constructive about their boss or colleague, HR will go directly to your boss and tell them what you said about them. There is no confidentiality.
