Pros
• You really get lured in by talks of all the perks, the "great culture," the "family-oriented atmosphere," and talks of the massive quarterly bonuses. • I met some great people here who, although unhappy in their positions, will likely be friends for a long time. • Paint discounts and rebates for most Masco products.
Cons
• The marketing department consistently ranks as the most unhappy and miserable department in the company and nothing is done other than a general sentiment of 'glad it's not us!' • HR department does little to address issues but plenty to limit liability • New CMO believes in outsourcing everything, leaving the graphic design department, color marketing, and marketing departments with only miscellaneous housekeeping tasks and menial projects • Chances are you'll be hired as a temp and they make sure you stay that way for months and even years, always saying that there is no budget to hire you full time as they pump millions into advertising agencies per year • Definite "old boys club" of older white male execs who 'have been doing it this way for years, why change now?' • Sales slipping majorly, even on new 'innovative' products • Departments constantly at major odds with each other, tons of ill feelings and resentment and a constant state of personal warfare • Execs are often unresponsive on all matters except those directly related to sales numbers and gallons sold • You'll be hired for your revolutionary ideas but chastised and abused for speaking about them for fear of 'upsetting' others/managers • Hiring brand new people into senior-level positions rather than promoting from within is throwing the company culture into disarray
