Pros
Good Medical Benefits. Good Education Assistance program. Other benefits are pretty standard, except relocation which is terrible. Very knowledgeable techs and engineers always willing to collaborate. Salary is pretty competitive for the market. Generally good managers that make an otherwise bad situation ok.
Cons
Extremely arcane employee policies regarding vacation, 401K vesting (2 yr), lunches, etc. Terrible HR dept, does not return calls or email, changes offer terms in the last minute, places absurd limits on relocation benefits such as, super short house hunting trips with a very low hotel cost limit. Also heard about suddenly reducing corp housing to 30 days from a standard 60 days. You have to follow-up & demand every allowance or bonus due or else it is not paid. Very poor feel for employee morale. Recently, there was a plan to force every engineer to move from DFW area to Amarillo. After much protest, it was finally scrapped. In August 2012 the plan is to force everyone in the company to take 5 days of mandatory vacation, while they upgrade multiple business systems. Notice was given less than 2 months before. If you don't have the balance, you go in the hole. No option to take time off without pay. Mandatory 30 minutes of lunch every day for everyone. So you are there for 8.5 hrs if you eat lunch or not. No option to work from home at all, you're at the company all day or take sick/vacation time off. Some managers do allow flex time. Access to business systems is horrid. It often takes months to get access to the systems necessary to do the work. Email deletes everything after 30 days without warning. Parking at the main plant is horrid.
