Pros
The company promotes an entrepreneurial environment in the stores and at Corporate, and is always looking to improve and enhance competitive advantages. The company successfully promotes from within, only hiring from the outside when in need of subject matter experts at Corporate or in the stores when in a new market. A very high percentage of top store managers started with the company as entry level tire technicians; many of the staff in corporate positions have worked in the stores as well which provides them with a great amount of insight. The company invests in corporate culture; still sponsoring huge Holiday parties, picnics, and annual sales meetings for thousands of employees, in many cases including their families. Management at Corporate promotes a friendly, family environment, while still driving results and holding staff accountable and pushing them.
Cons
There are so many good ideas fostered from the entrepreneurial environment in the stores and at the office, the company often doesn't have the resources to keep up. Prioritized investments and resource allocation is a constant challenge. The company has invested in training resources but the overall training program for the retail sales team is not very good, which leads to some executional underperformance.
