Pros

This is a diverse workplace. One can get to know interesting people from all over the world and build meaningful relationships. As an educational publishing company, literacy and equality are big parts of the company culture by nature. LGBTQ rights are highly recognized and respected here. There are company events at least once every month to bring people together and this tradition has been maintained during COVID-19. There used to be company sponsored lunch once every month, soccer and volleyball games sponsored by the company pre COVID-19. There is an annual talent show where employees volunteer to go on stage and perform music, dances, poetry reading, etc. Management let employees to opt to work from home at the very beginning of the pandemic this year, when no one had a clue of how bad it would be. It was a brave and responsible move, and by doing this the company shows it's putting employees' health as its priority. The founders of the company care about their employees by heart, are passionate about the company's mission, and aim to build a family like working environment. The company has also generously sponsored many international employees.

Cons

The company is still scaling and in transition as it grows, oversight from management is inevitable under high pressuring situations but this happens to every company. Work-life balance may not be ideal under pressuring situations.

Pros

I became incensed when I came across the reviews on Glassdoor and wanted to contribute my own review. I suppose things have changed here at Benchmark because I have a completely different view of this organization. I work fully remote from home. The culture is collaborative. People are NICE and very professional!! The 401k benefits match at 25% of my contributions (not 3 or 4% like most companies) AND they have a profit sharing bonus. It's a very inclusive and diverse company. Thank you, Benchmark. I'm going to reach out to other employees and see if we can 'up' these numbers with positive reviews!

Cons

I wish I could visit the main headquarters and meet my peers in-person someday.

Pros

May be manageable if you are 100% remote.

Cons

If you have to be in the New Rochelle office, it is truly a strange place with bizarre, abusive management. The negative reviews are accurate. You will hear yelling, shouting, cursing, and insults thrown around casually. It’s usually directed at individuals. This comes from the very top CEO - the bad vibes trickle down through middle management and onto workers. Turnover is extremely high, lots of layoffs and outsourcing. Occasional free lunch doesn’t make up for the horrible culture. Systems are convoluted and there’s no real training process or HR, so a lot of times one hand doesn’t know what the other is doing.
