Pros

Free soda Casual dress Pretty much the same stuff any other tech company has I will say the people on my teams where some of the coolest people and I wouldn't want to wish this job on anyone without the people

Cons

1. Pay -Pay is horrific and horribly under the national average. Your raises are so minuscule it's kind of a slap in the face. Good talent leaves to better companies which makes this place run was less efficient. 2. Culture -The culture is changing. It's not just a good place to work because you can wear jeans. You also can't micromanage and have no outlet for those to get off sucky jobs to good jobs or at least improve their job/morale. And that is what is happening. How they keep getting rated one of the best places to work is beyond me, a trip to the CSC will show you no one is happy, everyone is overworked, and no one gets paid enough. 3. Product -Product is good, not great. Slow, clunky, and half the time it doesn't do what you need it to do. When you offer solutions or advice it gets ignored because "it's adequate." Meanwhile clients are becoming less and less happy. 4. Budget cuts -This company makes millions, and gets upset about buying paper cups. All the while throwing OnePlace and huge Keynote events that are just a farce. You don't need a huge event to showcase that you are making improvements to the system, that's your job. Meanwhile Shawn Jenkins has enough money to put his name on a hospital, his staff is barely struggling to make rent. 5. Upward mobility. -Yea no. Was told multiple times in my year there that I was next in line for a promotion and every time I was passed up by someone less qualified than me.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. I’m disappointed that you weren’t satisfied working here. It really is an amazing place. But, not every environment is for everyone, and I hope you found a situation that better suits your style. I will share a brief thought on each of the points you shared. We regularly review our salaries against local and national standards to ensure that we’re competitive. For the Culture, everyone within our walls creates the culture. You said yourself you worked with some of the coolest people, which makes for a cool culture! Our product is strong, and we continue to do quarterly releases to keep making it even better. For the budget, both financial success and the environment are important to a growing company. We actually spent a tremendous amount on paper cups in the past and filled many trash cans – which associates who volunteer on the ‘green team’ pointed out and they lead the initiative to get rid of them. We were proud to help them make such an awesome change. Additionally, we’re beyond proud of Shawn and his family’s contribution to the hospital. The hospital serves children around the state, and even those out of state. Many, many of our associates have been personally impacted by the hospital. Many of us are excited to have stronger ties to MUSC thanks to Shawn’s generosity. As for career-pathing, it’s disappointing that you felt you were held back. We want everyone to know that they have a path to move up and we are working to make sure those paths are clear. You are welcome to share suggestions that may help current associates. You can always reach me at stephanie.feals@benefitfocus.com.
