Pros
Nice Charleston offices, some good teammates
Cons
Benefitfocus is a joke of a company. As a software company, the products are not even anything great and have countless bugs and performance problems. The company is not profitable and the business is operated like a hobby business run by a group of friends. The company grew pretty fast (by spending investor money) but there was no focus put on growing the company properly. From the organizational units to the people to processes to supporting functions such as HR to infrastructure to the software code base, it is a failed mess of a mismanaged company. The market is even responding with a high level of customer dissatisfaction. The competitors in this space are going to consume Benefitfocus. Then there are things like recent layoffs, outsourcing large amounts of the company to India and elsewhere, mismanaged constant org changes, typical overtime, no work/life balance, horrible communication, degrading culture, lack of training, and on and on. So, if you are still considering Benefitfocus, then stop and think. The best option is to wait 3 years, see if the company survives, and then apply. Maybe.
