Pros

- Flexible Work Schedule - Ability to learn multiple functions of SaaS if motivated - Opportunity for Extended Career Training (GBA and CEBS Certification)

Cons

If written in 2014, I would have said that there we minimal negatives at the company; however, large scale organizational shifts over the past 8 - 10 months have resulted in a large-scale loss of experienced talent from the company across various departments. While many of the positive reviews that you see on this site are genuine, the negative experiences posted in other reviews are also very real. Employees are now faced with extremely high expectations related to client satisfaction with the product, without controlling the product quality itself. Providing clear and accurate expectations to both internal and external clients is difficult at best due to OLA's that are stated, but rarely enforced. Travel requirements for client facing positions have also greatly increased in the past eight months, making it increasingly difficult to maintain a work-life balance, especially for those with families and children. My advice to those looking at applying with the company would be to carefully study the reviews here on Glassdoor, and to also speak with anyone that you know who has spent more than one year with the company (current and former employees included). These individuals will be able to provide much needed perspective into how things have changed and where things are headed within the company. Ask the difficult questions early in your interview and press for quality responses to areas of concern in order to be sure that the position is an appropriate fit for you. Finally, understand that this is not the same company that you may have heard about two or three years ago. Corporate growth and outside investment have increased pressure to be more efficient and less frivolous with internal perks and benefits. Once you consider that information, make the best choice for you personally.

Thanks for sharing your honesty and constructive, candid thoughts. We definitely are a different company than we were a few years ago. We have to change as we grow, but we can still be an amazing place to work. The changes made recently are to support this growth so we can best serve associates and customers. I agree with you that it is important to speak with people and to ask challenging questions during the interview process. This company isn’t for everyone. Some people don’t want to work in an open environment or may not want to celebrate or ring cowbells, but that is who we are. As you mention, we work very hard and the work is challenging (but also rewarding - millions of people use our software). This is a very rewarding place that can offer great career growth, but everyone must make his or her own decisions about how and where to grow. I’m not sure when you left the company, but Shawn continues to be dedicated to our culture. He met with the majority of our associates in small groups this summer and everyone shared really awesome stories and connected as people. It was really cool that our CEO took that time to connect with everyone and that our associates were able to take a break to share stories with Shawn. I wish you were here to be part of it! As for your personal request to me, please know that I read every one of these reviews, and think about each of them. I share the feedback in everyone one of these reviews with leaders in the company. They listen and they incorporate the ideas into their plans to make things better as we grow. I want the best for everyone and want everyone working on our campuses (or remotely) to be happy about coming to work everyday. If you have any further thoughts, you’re welcome to email me at stephanie.feals@benefitfocus.com.
