Pros
I work with a lot of really great, hardworking people who are dedicated to producing excellent work. I work with some of the brightest associates who do try to live the Benefitfocus values.
Cons
Over the past year, we have seen a significant decline in our stock price, long before the impacts of COVID-19 made its way to impacting the rest of the economy. I have been waiting for a change in our CEO position for months now, with no action. I hope the virus hasn't provided an easy excuse for the reason why things are the way they are. It's not the virus, it is fundamental mismanagement from our CEO, with bizarre and erratic decisions, bad behavior, and poor business acumen. When you see CEO's right now amidst a crisis being role models and stepping up to help employees, he has been strangely absent or sending puzzling emails to associates. His direction and leadership have led us down paths we should not be going down, and he has circled himself with expensive leaders with zero experience doing what we're looking to accomplish as a company. We either have people who have been in their roles here since the beginning and don't have external experience, or the external experience they do have is working with the current CEO -- not good. One solution, a pretty easy one, is to promote our CFO to CEO. His experience as CEO in other companies and how he has communicated to associates and management thus far has been impressive. As a former board member, he would be a strong move that as a long time associate, would automatically give me comfort in this tumultuous time. Otherwise, when we're through this crisis and other companies begin hiring a bit more, I'm out.
