Pros
- Exposure to the most amazing, well-know brands in the industry - Facetime with upper-level management - Very hands on, experience with not only buying, but visual merchandising in store, planning, marketing, events, etc - Discount
Cons
- Salary, extremely low compared to other companies for the same position - High turnover rate, mostly due to low salary and because employees do not feel appreciated - No work/life balance, assistants are expected to stay extremely late to finish work (teams are small, so workload is hard to manage) and are not allowed to expense dinner or cabs home if you live far - Forced to have email on phone, so buyer and store managers/associates can contact you at all times - Career growth is difficult, there's a big gap between assistant and buyer, so half the time you are getting underpaid while doing the responsibilities of a buyer if you are trying to get promoted - ABs are always taken advantage of in this way.
