Pros
If your supervisor and the sales associates are supportive, it's not too difficult to be effective.
Cons
The pay is terrible, and if your supervisor does not support you it can be very difficult to perform your job well. You're constantly being asked to wear different hats; it's a title that's used to give you the responsibility without the appropriate compensation for the job description-you're basically an assistant manager without the compensation. There is little to no room for advancement, it's nonsense when they tell you otherwise at the interview. They sell you a really great possible future, but if you're ambitious and intelligent you will not be satisfied with your rate of advancement, especially since the compensation gaps are so wide. All that said there is lots of nepotism, so if you can get the favor of the "right" persons, you can advance fairly easily.
