Pros

Initially Best Buy is a great place to work at because its fun to learn about new technology and be able to talk about it with customers who want to buy the products. The business structure and protocol is well organized and Best Buy always strives to be the best while having fun. We are encouraged to treat our customers as family, which in turn helps us differentiate us from our competitors. Best Buy is very flexible for those who only need a part time job. Managers are also very helpful in dealing with upset customers or situations that are out of the hands of a sales associate.

Cons

Ultimately Best Buy is a business like any other and there are a lot of sales quotas we have to reach, specifically with product service plans and attachments for core products. While this is all a part of our job task, sometimes it can get frustrating when no sales are made, or when customers seem resistant to our sales pitch. Recently Best Buy also requires a candidate to be available at least 3 opening or closing shifts on the weekend which has made it harder for someone who plans on working two jobs at once. I can only speak for my store when I say management is somewhat helpful at times when dealing with your personal work related issues, but I'm sure that varies from store to store.

Pros

No pros. Just don’t work here.

Cons

This job adds little to no value, either for customers or for career growth. The primary focus is pushing credit cards and memberships that many customers don’t actually need, making the work feel repetitive and unfulfilling. The workplace culture and management are poor, and employees are often assigned busywork instead of meaningful responsibilities. There is almost no opportunity to develop product knowledge or apply any technical or electronics skills. Even the sales experience is limited since the role revolves around following scripted pitches rather than building genuine sales or customer relationship skills. Overall, it’s not a strong entry-level position for someone looking to develop transferable skills. There are many other jobs that provide better learning opportunities, stronger career growth, and more valuable real-world experience.
