Pros
Socially conscious company with good benefits, pay, and atmosphere. Definitely room to advance and increase your skill set here. During the current COVD-19 pandemic, they have encouraged and enabled social distancing, temporarily increased pay for in lab work and second/third shift, purchased masks for employees, and are making an effort to check on staff's mental and physical health during this time period. In Pre-Pandemic times, this company encouraged BPMs to engage with team building activities, had a monthly beer/wine social, and regularly had events that enabled you to meet others outside of your team. Almost everyone in the Durham facility is approachable and helpful. Also, Jim Datin is phenomenal and makes an effort to know everyone within the Durham facility.
Cons
Your work / personal life balance is very dependent on the team you are working with. Your manager could be absolutely fantastic and actually helps you maintain a healthy balance OR your manager could be egotistical nightmare that only cares about you so long as you are making them revenue. My biggest concern so far is that several people have reported certain individuals more than once to upper management (including several people who have ended up leaving) and if it was ever brought up to those managers, their teams have no indication of it. Nothing has changed. This is not to say that ALL BPMs are bad - the majority seem to be decent to work under but there are a few bad apples. The only reason I'm looking outside of this company is because of my manager and the strained environment they create within the team.
