Micromanagement, poor leadership, low pay, and unhealthy company culture - Anonymous employee Birdeye Employee Review

- Micromanagement: While data-driven management is helpful, Birdeye takes it way too far. Everything is analyzed to death, and department leaders regularly review customer accounts and call recordings at random and provide harsh feedback on ridiculously small things (publicly, I'll add). The amount of dashboards and spreadsheets that employees have to keep up with is exhausting and even gets in the way of people doing their actual jobs since they're so focused on making the data look good. - Poor management: Upper level leadership is way too involved in ways that are unhelpful, such as dropping pointed criticisms at specific team members at 1am in the department chat. They would also frequently interrupt folks who were leading calls, demonstrating that they really did not respect or trust the person who was running the meeting. - Low pay: Birdeye's pay is extremely low compared to industry standards, especially given what they're asking of their employees. - Unhealthy company culture: I could write a book on this, but I'll try to keep it short. There are small things here and there such as scheduling meetings outside of folks' time zones without asking, going over on meeting times without acknowledgment, requesting a Glassdoor review to "boost their star rating" within my first few months at the org, etc., but what pushed me over the edge was the treatment of their India-based employees. The India team supports US-based customers and essentially performs the same functions as US-based employees but are paid significantly less, given fewer days off and fewer benefits, and are scrutinized much more harshly than US employees. This isn't openly acknowledged, but the disparity became evident pretty immediately.
