Pros

The company has nice, talented people to work with. The company has a willingness to invest in new technology and smart people as far as the budget permits. The people are open and progressive enough to entertain interesting casual discussions during lunch time and to share their technical experience during work time. Although there are times when the workload gets heavy, this is not constant and the managers are generally understanding when you need to take some time off or work at a slower pace to cool down.

Cons

The pay arrives in the middle of the current month and only for the prior month. This means that, after the first two months where the outcome depends on when you were hired (=you get payed for two weeks after four, if you started working in the middle of the previous month) you end up getting four weeks worth of pay after six weeks. This is not the best of paying cycle scenarios, especially since, when they make you the offer, they talk about salary per month, not salary per prior month/ excluding those two weeks from the current month before you actually get payed that will be payed the next month. In the other common local paying cycles (not adopted by this company), where you get payed for the prior month at the beginning or end of the current month, you don't get to constantly feel that there are weeks of pay missing from your pockets (although, in the 'end of the month' scenario, you basically work for 8 weeks and get payed only for four, this is evident to your pockets only in the first two months). The private health package is a basic one and you need to pay if you want to have a premium (=most tests included) package and this goes for senior employees too. I think this is unacceptable for a company as big as this one. The canteen could use some updating. The Bucharest headquarters do not have what one would call an easy-to-access location. The company's attitude towards pay entertains the somewhat skewed idea that, if you like what you do, you shouldn't need a big salary.

Pros

I've always stayed for years at my previous employers but Bitdefender managed to go above and beyond. Started more than a decade in Enterprise support and managed to move to several roles until settled into a customer-facing engineering role which I really love. There are tons of opportunities in the company so even if you start in an entry-level position you, you can move easily to other departments and roles. The company has offices all across the globe and you will work with talented people from AUS/NZ, Romania, Italy, France, Germany, the UK, Spain, the US, and Latin America. You will have the opportunity to meet people from other offices live during SkOs or during on-site events. Bitdefender secures the largest organizations on the planet so you will be engaged to come up with solutions for different environments and platforms while having access to the latest technologies. Management teams and C Level folks are always accessible and eager to help; just start the conversation.

Cons

Depending on your role, you might need to help a customer during non-business hours as Bitdefender provides and offers cybersecurity for large organizations. This can happen during bank holidays or weekends.

Pros

Great product and smart engineering team

Cons

Frequent layoffs, no clear market strategy, average pay and benefits. Volatility in the leadership team has been a big problem for them.
