Pros

Awesome coworkers! Seriously, culture fit is very important here and it pays off. Hardest part about deciding to leave was leaving the coworkers. Other stuff: Casual dress code. Beer on tap. Yearly company trip to tropical location. Challenging work. Fast growing company. Great Paternity and Maternity leave policy. Monthly feedback sessions (very personalized and constructive). Also, they are open to feedback and constructive criticism. My interactions with Senior Management was 99.9% very positive and friendly (can't think of a bad thing). There are cons but I would recommend this company.

Cons

Low pay compared to other tech companies. No real career trajectory. There are promotions but my feeling was that there was really only one level of attainable promotion after 2-4 years of work. However, this varies as People I worked with got promoted after 6 months to 1 year of work. They do recognize people that work hard and produce results. Benefits of a small company. However, I know people that have worked 3-4 years before being promoted. The Application Support Engineer position has high turnover (people going to other positions and leaving the company). I know this is specific but the lack of Application Support Engineers can cause stress on those that remain in that position and those in other positions. They are actively recruiting for this position but the interview process is brutal. There is some cliques and favoritism. Nothing awful but its there. Lastly, the company is transitioning from a startup to a medium size company and there are definitely growing pains. They recognize this but at times we felt like that while they recognize it they didn't do much to change some of the complaints. My personal opinion, the biggest growing pain they are facing is providing adequate training to new employees. They kinda throw you into the fire and have you learn while doing. This is because their software that they sell and support is very unique and customized. There are easily over 80 clients and every client can potentially have a different interface. No exaggeration, client A can look and act 70% different from client B.

Pros

Great people, great work, great transparency

Cons

Can be hectic at times, but sometimes that is actually a pro. You'll always have work to do at BMS

Pros

1) Communication between management and staff is fantastic. I feel that I can maintain an open/honest discussion with my supervisor at all times about both the good experiences and the bad experiences. 2) The people here are all incredible. I haven't met one person yet at the company that I wouldn't want to continually work with. The hiring process here is specifically designed to ensure that the company culture and values are present in every new employee that is brought on board. This really shows itself once you have a chance to actually meet everybody at one of the company monthly happy hours. 3) Everybody here has a sense of purpose and knows why they are here. I know that I am a valued member of the company which gives me a great deal of satisfaction with working here. Every day, I feel a sense of accomplishment for the job I am doing and I look forward to coming into work everyday because of that.

Cons

1) You are expected to work an average of 50 hours per week. While the company does help you with crafting a more comfortable schedule around that 50 hours, it is still a large chunk of time to swallow. I have found myself struggling with this many times throughout my time here and I can easily understand why other people struggle as well. Also, you are taking a 20% hit to your salary based on time worked because you are being paid for a 40 hour work week, but expected to work 50 hours. For example, if you are paid $70K a year, that's $1400 a week, and $35 an hour (8 hrs a day, 5 days/week, 50 weeks/year). However, you are expected to work 50 hours a week (10 hours a day). If you worked hourly, your weekly pay would be $1750 for that 50 hours. Since the job is salary and you only get $1400 a week, you lose that 20% for the extra time spent at work. 2) There are also other trade-offs to the benefits here. They do offer 4 weeks paid vacation which is good, but there is no separation of sickness vs regular time off. If you come down with some debilitating disease that takes you out for a week, that is a week out of your vacation time as well. While the managers say to take time off when you are sick so as not to infect anyone else, the incentive is to not do that so you can get more time off for fun things. The company also does not contribute to your 401k plan at all.
