Pros
Working at CashApp at Block was great. It has changed very much now that they are standardizing things across all the different business units: CashApp, Square, Tidal etc. Every business branch/arm had its unique culture and CashApp was all about celebrating how you work, providing you with a lot of autonomy. The company has great extended health benefits Remote work environment Ability to travel and work abroad Great communities to foster culture in a distributed work environment e.g. faith, background, hobbies, etc.
Cons
Block as a whole is becoming more hierachical Difficult to get promoted or merit increase Really large range in salary and compensation pending on where you are based Staff reduction and layoffs are done without accounting for impact, skill sets, experience, and existing projects (value add).
