Pros
Great doctors to work with, great benefits for your pet, lots of equipment you won't have a general practice, and good place to gain experience and meet people.
Cons
Depending on the doctor you work with, some of them are so negative and demanding it is difficult even with all the equipment you have. Especially in emergency where you will not be trained properly at all. And once you find what the protocol is, you realize none of your coworkers care or follow it until it affects their pride. The hospital is also large, so getting labwork done or grabbing drugs can become very time consuming. Some technicians have horrible attitudes. If I remember correctly, if you are so desensitized to death of animals, you really shouldn't be in the field anymore. However I can see it's not practical and management doesn't care. Management is not consistent. They like to be all happy and nonchalant, however there is no human resource or outlet to report abuse and disrespect. Doctors don't respect management, and management doesn't respect doctors. Your pretty much taking it from both sides.
