Pros
- Smart, helpful people. There were some who were difficult to deal with, but they have all left - R&D team is very capable of achieving great work in short notice - Located in downtown, easy access to subway and GO Transit - At the individual contributor level, one does not need to be political to be successful - Senior technical staffs are very knowledgeable and approachable - Sales picking up, making good deals recently - Started investing in customer support. Smart move. - Started employee share purchase plan.
Cons
- Turnover rate is high. Signs were showing last year, but the CEO refused to fill headcounts for short-term financial gain. Now the resource is dangerously low. - It seems that the CEO does not care about R&D department half as much as he cares about sales and marketing, and stated that he is not interested in making people to change their minds if they want to leave. Hence, a lot are leaving. - Occasional management shuffle does not boost employee morale. For example, the VP who promised no more layoffs himself has been let go shortly after. - The product is getting complex, yet there is little resource for quality assurance before release.
