Pros
Initial impressions:
- Impressive client list so you get to work at local tech giants.
- Hired as an FTE; deployed as contract consultant which shielded me from politics and burn-n-churn of tech giants.
- Vibrant small firm culture - low bureaucracy, few management layers, and no fiefdoms .... yet.
- HQ staff is high caliber, nice and super helpful.
- Payroll, benefit administration and accounting have been flawless.
- Competitive salary; no-frills benefits appropriate for company size.
- Competent visionary management with significant depth in tech products & services.
- Strong emphasis on professionalism, integrity, and client success.
- Strong emphasis on health & fitness. Healthcare for employees is great.
- $ towards skill enrichment; opportunities for training & certs while on bench.
- They hire high caliber SMEs so you get to mingle and learn from others.
With all of the above, I expect it to prosper given the tech market here.
Cons
- Fast growth means growing pains; org structure and management controls are being scaled-up.
- No sign-on bonus or 401k match; no RSUs.
- Health coverage for family is expensive. They plan to improve all this.
- Company laptop is meh; BYOD if you want a nice machine.
Guessing these areas will improve as this company scales.
