Pros

- Excellent pay, 401k match (10%), and benefits; pockets of hybrid or remote opportunities (but becoming less available) - Excellent company mission, supporting the flying public and warfighter - Vast majority of employees are brilliant, hard-working people who are doing the right things every day - Great company legacy for over 100 years

Cons

- Media stories over the years have lowered employee morale significantly - Culture of entitlement and blame at all levels; high volume of ethics and speak up complaints - Good leaders get turned-in to ethics; poor leaders get promoted or moved to another program - Promotions are based more on who you know and loyalty than on the best person for the job - Executives are focused too much on stock price and personal long-term incentives to drive their decisions vs. making sacrificial decisions that are best for the company and its people and products - Return to the office policies are increasingly happening (less opportunities for hybrid and remote)

Pros

Excellent work-life balance compared to many aerospace companies. Good benefits (healthcare, retirement, PTO).

Cons

- Five days per week in the office - Parking can be challenging. - Working across multiple time zones (U.S., Brazil, India) creates coordination overhead - Compensation is not competitive for the Seattle area. - Limited opportunities for meaningful career growth. While there are internal career paths, I haven't found many opportunities that align with the technical challenges and responsibilities I'm looking for - SPEEA's seniority-based structure can slow advancement for newer employees - Programs have very long development cycles, so it can take years to see your work become a finished product - Less exposure to cutting-edge technology than companies focused on emerging products (space, medical devices, AI hardware, quantum computing, etc. Significant bureaucracy and slow decision-making
