Pros

401(k) match is good for a total of 8% of pay. Health care plans are decent and HSA contributions are generous.

Cons

Discrimination: Boeing actively discriminates against anyone who does not agree with their policies or gets in the way. Any employee who tried to get an accommodation (such as a disability) for virtual work was told to leave the company and then fired when layoffs came, They also fired as many people on FMLA as possible during reduction in force. Compensation: Lower than the public sector. I took a public sector job for a $40k raise with better benefits. Horrible bonus structure. No one got a bonus for 2024, even those with the highest performance ratings. Bureaucracy: A labyrinth of constant confusion, approvals, and requests to do the simplest things. Unbelievably frustrating and inefficient. Management: Upper management anywhere in the company is terrible. Every concern was immediately dismissed, as they do not care. I wish I was exaggerating. They stopped publishing employee survery results, since they were so bad.

Pros

Excellent work-life balance compared to many aerospace companies. Good benefits (healthcare, retirement, PTO).

Cons

- Five days per week in the office - Parking can be challenging. - Working across multiple time zones (U.S., Brazil, India) creates coordination overhead - Compensation is not competitive for the Seattle area. - Limited opportunities for meaningful career growth. While there are internal career paths, I haven't found many opportunities that align with the technical challenges and responsibilities I'm looking for - SPEEA's seniority-based structure can slow advancement for newer employees - Programs have very long development cycles, so it can take years to see your work become a finished product - Less exposure to cutting-edge technology than companies focused on emerging products (space, medical devices, AI hardware, quantum computing, etc. Significant bureaucracy and slow decision-making
