Great for lazy federal employees - Transmission Bonneville Power Employee Review

Pros

Flexible work hours, especially during inclement weather.

Cons

Contractors are treated like second class and referred to as "contract resources" or simply "resources." There are contractors that have been there 20 or 30 years and are still treated like temps. Feds get cushy vacations to "conferences" while contractors struggle to get any paid training. Non-federal employees have to recompete for their own jobs every three years in addition to an annual renewal. Those who don't pull their own weight do not get any corrective action, so long as they are buddies with their supervisors. Not much integrity in the management teams, and management practices are very inconsistent between teams.

Pros

Decent job culture, good work life balance.

Cons

Management communication can be poor at times, and they occasionally knowingly violate federal law. Diversity practices harm traditional majorities. Hiring practices are questionable.
