Pros

I have had much worse jobs. Here is what I like about the company: 1. My boss is great and I like my peers. 2. Booz is very good about supporting staff with professional development such as presenting papers at conferences. 3. The company is very supportive of creativity in client work as well as marketing and professional development. 4. The pay is good, and clearly a fraction above federal pay in most cases. 5, The Booz culture is also interesting. The parties and social activities are fun. 6. If you work at the home base, the offices are nice and there are lots of windows, snacks, and good coffee; lots of flexibility to work from home.

Cons

1. The constant pressure to stay billable is very stressful. If you do not have a project to bill to then your job is immediately threatened. 2. Do not be fooled- it is YOUR responsibility to find work. Booz may say that it is the job of the level 4 to find work for staff, but that is furthest from the case. And if you do not have billable work your job is immediately in jeapardy. Do not beleive otherwise at the interview. Ask them if they have a job with a "B-Number" for you as soon as you start. 3. Working on client site is ussually pretty bad in terms of how you are treated, desk accomadations, and ammenities. When on client site there often is zero flexibility working from home. 4. A more specific complaint about Booz is the analytic quanlity of the staff. As a premier consulting firm, it seems reasonable that staff have a working fundamentals of business such as economics and statistics. I not seen this to be the case in the least. 5. You cannot advance from a level 3 to a level 4 as a subject matter expert. The only way to get promoted to senior associate is to win new work and be a known rain maker. 6. Pay raises are very small. This year I got the maximum raise possible, or at least as my boss said, which was 3%.

Pros

Strong mission-focused culture with meaningful work supporting national security missions. Great exposure to diverse projects, talented teammates, flexible work arrangements, and opportunities to develop skills across security, intelligence, cyber, and consulting. Benefits and professional development resources are solid.

Cons

The company culture and employee experience have changed significantly in recent years. Earlier years felt more mission-focused and employee-centered, while recent organizational shifts, government spending pressures, and increased emphasis on becoming a technology-focused company have created uncertainty for some employees. Frequent changes in priorities, restructuring, and business decisions can make job stability feel less predictable. Employees may sometimes feel disconnected from leadership, and concerns raised through HR or management channels do not always appear to result in meaningful action or transparency.
