Pros
Every Booz Allen office tends to have a different culture. Much of that culture is defined by how senior executives in the company (Level 4+, Senior Associates and above) manage teams. Hence this description may not be appropriate for all BAH offices. The best reasons to work are: good work/life balance, good employee morale, good benefits Definitely a good place to work early in a career because of the learning opportunities that the projects provide especially regarding client relationship management, presentation development, time management. Your colleagues are great. Intelligent and hard working, while also a lot of fun. Often work and personal life were mixed, with many of your friends being your colleagues. This made for a great working environment.
Cons
It is difficult to move from project to project. Managers tend to be very possessive about their employees and there tends to be a lot of office politics involved. If you are a star employee on a given project, you might find that it is even more difficult to transition projects, although not impossible. Finding intellectually demanding projects is difficult. There are a lot of good projects, but they become bland relatively quickly - especially ones for the federal government. Employees working within the IT field (e.g. software development, etc.) may want to consider their other options with outside IT firms so that they are aware of their worth within the market. Booz Allen tends to pay less in general and you have to fight for an appropriate compensation package, especially an applicant with a strong set of technical skills.
