Pros

The opportunities within Booz Allen were great, you could essentially choose the path that you wanted to go and initially the flexibility and work life balance was amazing but then Covid hit.

Cons

The expectation is that you work non stop and you don’t get those hours back. Booz Allen is a big company and things can vary depending on which group you fall in, including things that are supposed to be mandated firm wide. Management changed during my time and it went downhill really quickly. People who didn’t know how to manage teams were put in charge and new people being hired didn’t have the skills to successfully do their jobs nor was there time for them to actually learn the skills to do their jobs. There was no support in my group for growing leaders UNLESS you were a friend of the boss. There is a lot of favoritism going on and lack of investment in the employees that work their butts off. They will run you to the ground and they will not speak up to the clients on your behalf. I felt betrayed by the firm and I really loved it when I joined. I thought, this is it, this will be the last place I work until management changed and no one cared. I was getting paid less than many other people on the team doing a lot less work. You would think they would have invested in me a little more considering I’m the reason they had a lot of the work but I wasn’t close to the senior associate like others so no favoritism for me. Maybe it’s because I stood up for myself and the team. Onto bigger and better things I guess.

Pros

Strong mission-focused culture with meaningful work supporting national security missions. Great exposure to diverse projects, talented teammates, flexible work arrangements, and opportunities to develop skills across security, intelligence, cyber, and consulting. Benefits and professional development resources are solid.

Cons

The company culture and employee experience have changed significantly in recent years. Earlier years felt more mission-focused and employee-centered, while recent organizational shifts, government spending pressures, and increased emphasis on becoming a technology-focused company have created uncertainty for some employees. Frequent changes in priorities, restructuring, and business decisions can make job stability feel less predictable. Employees may sometimes feel disconnected from leadership, and concerns raised through HR or management channels do not always appear to result in meaningful action or transparency.
