Poor culture and employee investment - Anonymous employee Boston Ballet Employee Review

There is no investment into the employee. Pay is very poor (being a nonprofit isnt an excuse because their artist director make over half a million per year, and the opex is over $30mil). Unhealthy work culture that promotes overworking without fair expectations or compensation, departments operating in silos, no recognition, and burn out is inevitable. The turn over rate, consequently, is very high. It's a shame because they produce such wonderful work and programs. Upward mobility is very little to nonexistent, largely because they don't want to have to pay you anymore.
