Pros

Standard tech perks and great views. Book-smart, but where’s the human-side we hear so much about? Cute after-school, club vibe.

Cons

Empathy is lacking from management in a major way — likely due to immature experience and suppressed voices of adult members. With so much effort into going public, the strategy is to plow forward at all costs: creative reporting and zero voice for anyone that doesn’t drink the kook-aid, blindly. Classic signs to get out: high turn-over rates, erratic communication, rumor mills, yes-men thrive.

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry that your experience at Braze has fallen short of your expectations. We have worked very hard to create a positive work environment where all views are listened to and respected. We have received positive feedback from the majority of our employees, which is why we were winners of two best workplace awards: Inc's Best Workplace 2019 and Crain's New York Best Places to Work 2019. Internally, we also make sure to get feedback from our employees through quarterly engagement surveys and have so far received increasingly better ratings each quarter. However, we recognize that we are a fast-growth company. We have almost doubled our employee count in 2019 and expect to hit 500 employees in early 2020. As such, we are actively working to improve our internal communications for all employees and also working with our People Team to ensure everyone has a chance to give feedback, and everyone has a voice at Braze. We will continue to listen to all feedback so we can continue to improve our employee experiences.

Pros

Braze has a good product. Comp is average to slightly below average for the industry. A lot of smart people pass through the doors of Braze. Most of them don't last long.

Cons

Product: Between legacy tech companies moving into customer engagement and smaller startups with similar / cheaper products, Braze's future looks pretty bleak. Equity: Braze's stock price has been in free fall for more than a year and is still overvalued at $20. Your equity might be worthless by the time you vest. Career growth: Internal promotions are few and far between and are never based on quality of work or merit. More often than not, people with no understanding of the product or industry are hired to manage long-tenured experts who didn't need managing in the first place. Culture: High achieving, competent people at Braze are seen as a threat to leadership. They eventually get fed up and leave because they can't get promoted or are forced to answer to managers that were hired over them for jobs they deserved. When they leave, they take their expertise to competitors or other industries and 3 or 4 people are usually needed to do the work they leave behind. Leadership: Braze churns through VPs + middle management at an alarming clip. Great leaders quit because they're not prepared for the micromanagement they endure and can't actually get anything done. The ones that seem to stick were only hired because they worked at Zendesk w/ the CBO or at Salesforce with someone in the Sales org. Not because they have relevant management experience, understand strategy, or the product.
