Pros

1. Very meaningful work - it's very rare to be able to say your work impact millions of kids, AND also earning a decent living, AND be working in a fast-paced environment. BB has it all. 2. They know what they are doing - without giving away too much - these folks know what they are doing. They have the backgrounds and also the entrepreneurial wits. Anyone working here would see their work appearing throughout the ed market. 3. Learning culture - employees hold skills session to share their expertise, whether that is market, or technical skill. We are no bigtech and can't afford corporate trainers, but we are keen to teach and learn (surprise!) :) 4. Very transparent management - There are weekly all-hands meeting (very short ~20 mins, we are v busy) and management does not hold back with any questions we throw at them. 5. Very strong growth - I've worked in several startups and seen their numbers. This one just blows us away.

Cons

1. We are still figuring how to market our brand in the technical recruitment community - We are well known in the education world (our stall gets clamoured by educators in ed conferences). We see less of this in the technical recruiting community though. (hence this post!) 2. Edtech is still emerging in 'coolness factor'. Whilst your friend can walk into bars and blurt out that he works in <bignamecompanyX>, or see their company name appear in techcrunch, we're ed tech. We're not consumer ("300% increase in DAU over 3 days!"). Our product is seen only by the ed market and students. This won't be the place if you want to impress others in the bar by flashing your business card.

Pros

I had a good experience working at BrightBytes. The environment offered valuable learning opportunities and exposure to different aspects of the business. The mission was compelling, and I appreciated working alongside some talented colleagues..

Cons

The company had some growing pains that come with most early stage startups. Sometimes the communication and priorities from leadership were unclear.
