Pros

It’s difficult to think of any pros at this time. Working for this company ruined my life and I’m still in the process of trying to rebuild it.

Cons

Poor management, discriminatory practices, unfair expectations…it’s a long list. I was a veteran of the telecom industry who was hired to support the company’s billing system. I came to Brightspeed with 20+ years of experience working with other billing systems at two other large telecom providers. My work and efforts were never supported by the Billing Systems Manager. If you combine this with the discrimination that I encountered by not being the same nationality as the billing system developers on the team, it was a very hostile and toxic work environment. I feel like there was a target on my back from day 1. I lost my job in Nov 2023 after only 5 months and I am still trying to recover from it professionally and mentally. There is a lot more that I could include here, as I was truly mistreated on a professional level and made to feel like I had no value whatsoever. If my experience is indicative of the “Brightspeed way,” I wouldn’t recommend the company to my worst enemy.

Pros

Many of the employees have been working together for a long time, most of them came from the initial merger between Lumen Technologies and Brightspeed. The general feel is good between peers and the friendships are great.

Cons

The company has terrible leadership and has treated merger employees as if we we were not a part of the company, even though we were the ones that stood up the new brand. Micromanaging leaders, they dont' trust or empower and caused a lot of friction by not backing employees. All values were lost in the merger.
