Many good people doing individual contributor roles.
Cons
Operation management teams have zero clue about being people managers. Managers not graded on people skills at all. Most managers wouldn't even say hi if they passed you in the hallway. If you weren't sitting in your office it was assumed you weren't working. Not easy when you have hours of meetings a day in conference rooms.
