Pros
I had many good colleagues at VMware and I thought very highly of the Broadcom employees that I worked with. Broadcom provided restricted stock units to VMware employees. I appreciated that Broadcom didn't shove a woke agenda down my throat like VMware did before the acquisition.
Cons
After acquiring VMware, Broadcom laid off many VMware people. Many Broadcom employees stated that this is the company's normal practice. This negatively impacts morale, as the remaining employees still have to handle the work of those who were let go. Additionally, we expect more layoffs to come. The RSUs that Broadcom provided turned out to be funny money for the laid off employees, who lost about 2/3 of the RSUs that they would have gotten if they had not been laid off. Broadcom significantly raised prices in such a way as to aggravate customers, several of which have threatened to go to court. This has emboldened competitors, who are looking to eat VMware's lunch.
