Pros

For the most part, management encourages new ideas and has an open-door policy. Not too much bureaucracy or red tape when trying to use new technologies or make infrastructure changes. Flexible work environment and adequate work life balance (can work from home some days, which is convenient if you're a parent).

Cons

Some cliquishness, sexism, and lack of diversity in certain teams. Difficult to be taken seriously, much less get a promotion, if your senior teammates are cackling behind your back and shooting down your suggestions. Also, salary is well below market-value for a software developer in NYC. We're writing financial applications here, not assembling iPhone parts in a factory. Fine line, I guess...

Cons

- Teams are spread out across the world so hard to collaborate at times - Hard to get budget for necessary upgrades
