Pros

Working directly with clients and serving as a facilitator to prevent clients from being evicted from their apartments, and advocating on their behalf in court and to landlords ...Even though you are part of a system that serves as a band aid to fix problems that the system itself created for your clients. But the clients are always super patient and understanding, and you can see how hard they and their families are working in spite of the stressful situations they are facing.

Cons

Worst management! They are all basically colluding in a groupthink, with the sole motto that the case manager should be treated like children, that they are always wrong and will always be blamed first and that their thoughts--those bearing the brunt of the work--don't matter. Instead, they will threaten you by using a nonsensical system of measuring performance and nitpick at supervisory meetings. They will literally treat you like children and tell you that you are disposable, and that you will not receive benefits such as water, or team outings, if you are being "bad." Anything short of a perfect team means that the supervisor's neck's on the line, so you can imagine how far up this system of punishment is...Foucault would be proud. It's not just words, but deliberate screwing others over and mistreating individuals, and then pretending that they are appreciated by fake team outings and birthday cards. Not to mention how dismissive they are to clients and the kind of cynicism they project to their own employees. The system itself is so unorganized and inefficient that it borders on absurdity. Tedious work that is extraneous to providing clients the efficient services they deserve. Think doing a lot of unnecessary work, where you literally have to continuously be on HRA to actually be told if the application was approved yet or not. So basically doing your own job, your supervisor's job and having to self-advocate, and HRA's job.
