Pros

There are a lot of opportunities within Brookdale. I moved up pretty fast. Had the opportunity to work in one of the corporate offices and out in field in the communities. They also have a program that'll help prepare you to be an Executive Director, Regional, etc.

Cons

I'm now a Sales Manager. In this role, I see that Brookdale does not live up to it's mission statement. They are not for the residents or it's employees...it's all about building census. They get so worked up about building census that they forget about the current residents who are already paying so we end up losing residents faster than we can replace them. Its to the point they'll take people who they know should be in a nursing home. They pay their employees super low compared to other Senior Living Corporations because they are so busy using the money to buy out other Senior Living Corporations. And because they have everything in house ( Brookdale hospice,Brookdale therapy, Brookdale Home Health), I miss the opportunity of partnering with outside agencies who TRULY refers people back to the communities unlike our own team. You got sister communities fighting over leads because there are too many of Brookdale communities next to each other and all of them are equally getting ridiculously pressured on building census. And the way they charge for care is downright a fool. They nickle and dime everything than always trying to discount once the prospect complains on the care cost which shows how desperate they are about building census. Than they "claim" to have a system that'll generate labor hours as nurses enter the care being provided in the system but yet they cutting hours and staff in most of the communities. And the health insurance is expensive with a very high deductible. And as big as the company is, why haven't we gone paperless on resident agreements yet??? We are so behind on technology it's ridiculous.

Pros

A lot of the employees at my location care about what they do and how it's done, ED April is pretty direct communication wise.

Cons

Other management is iffy and the regional management is a nightmare too and corporate seldom steps in to help. No one really gets trained like how they're supposed to from entry level to management
