Pros
Some of the work is interesting and, as others have said, you wear a lot of hats. This can be exciting and is a great way to learn.
Cons
It is true that advancement is difficult and appears to be especially difficult for women and minorities. This sounds basic but - hard work and dedication aren't really rewarded. It was always kind of a mystery to me what was rewarded. Profound lack of skill among top leadership - c-level. Very much an environment motivated by fear. Definitely motivating! But also a soul-killer. Also agree on the lack of ethical commitment - there are a lot of words and frequently little to no follow through, including within the regulatory space.
