Pros

- Close to home. - Lots of parking.

Cons

- Very low pay for its location on Long Island. - Management does not care about your ideas. - The workforce itself is aging. If you are a younger individual looking to work here, be prepared to work with people 30-50 years your senior. - An older workforce in both scientific research and administration means that everyone is very opposed to new ideas or ways to change the work environment for the better, they are happy to remain stagnant. Young people aren't taken seriously, and sometimes treated maliciously. - The work environment resembles an "old boys club" and remains very sexist. Women in administration are talked down to by older men, called names, called 'stupid,' etc. They will talk slower to you so you 'understand,' always unwarranted. - Layoffs are a frequent threat, never enough funding yet the Laboratory is planning to create an entirely new campus. - Upper level management only care about getting paid. The Lab is collapsing in on itself because it is unable to evolve at the pace of other laboratories. The scientific work performed here is minimal and unimpressive. - Administration around the Laboratory is clueless, yet underperformers are rewarded with raises and promotions. There is a disparity between departments in administration on raises and the amount of work performed.

Pros

Everyone here is great to work with. Work is interesting.

Cons

Middle of nowhere, takes almost a full lunch break to just get anywhere. Some Managers are hired only for their experience in the field and not how they can/would manage staff. Still annoyed about getting the covid jab to keep my job. It was pointless and got sick anyway 3 weeks later. No apologies or acknowledgment for any wrong doing will ever be made.
