Pros
Great benefits (free health, dental, optical. I got free glasses!) , Awesome work environment - books, kids & crazy people! Some branches have really great staff. Can be very entertaining. Latitude to work on projects.
Cons
Low pay, and even as you advance in the ranks, the pay scale does not improve. You could be running 4 libraries, have dozens of people working under you, and barely crack $50k. You will have 5 weeks paid vacation, so it's a trade-off. don't work here if you don't like kids, or are not prepared for the daily onslaught of 'the public'.
