Pros
The focus is absolutely 100% on customer satisfaction, and it's great to be able to help people out. The employees on the store level are a joy to work with. Flexible hours, very willing to work with family events and emergencies. Pay raises are available based on performance and attitude. Closed on Sundays so you'll always get at least one day off for the weekend. Good quality in-store products (deli, meat department, etc). Lot's of fun events and community involvement.
Cons
The owners/CEO, Richard and Robert Broulim. If your employees all groan and roll their eyes every time you walk into a store, you may be doing something wrong. The father/son duo are well known for their excessive micro-management. They also are relentlessly unforgiving for the smallest details, even if the store is understaffed. They will find the highest ranking manager in the store, pull them into the back office, and chew them out for 15-20 minutes with extremely vulgar language. Also, they take forever to approve requests from the managers, if they ever get approved at all. They also won't let the store management get new custodial equipment unless the ones they have are absolutely broken beyond all repair, and yet expect you to keep the place spotless with a vacuum that is falling to pieces and barely picks up light dirt. Customers that know the Broulims family - which is more than a few - can get away with making the managers bend over backwards for them because they know they will be under threat from the big man himself. Some Broulims family members - including extended family - expect you to know who they are on sight and give them special treatment.
