Pros
Morning breakfast always appreciated. Beautiful office and location. Tuition/training reimbursement.
Cons
There are some truly great, bright people at the firm, and you can learn a ton from this subset of colleagues. Unfortunately they are overshadowed (and stepped on) by the vast amount of cunning and toxic colleagues, many of which find themselves into middle and group management. Group heads often lack the technical knowledge to lead, manage, and resource their teams effectively, in turn preventing their team members from meaningful development opportunities. What's more--there is an overwhelming "country club"and elitist mentality, and promotions are seemingly made on the basis of one's social networks, prep school affiliation, and personal/family net worth. Junior colleagues are not afforded room to grow, which runs counter to the (frequently shared) message of developing from within and focusing on the "next generation" of the firm. Work/life balance is absolutely nonexistent and creates a mental/emotional drag on employees. This firm is highly inward-looking and thinks it is overwhelmingly unique in a homogenous industry.
