Godawful management that is tone deaf - Analyst Brown University Health Employee Review

Pros

Pay is market rate. Benefits are adequate, relatively inexpensive. Paid time off is solid.

Cons

IS management (especially senior) management is completely clueless to how analysts actually do their jobs. They make sweeping technical decisions when many of them rarely if ever log into the system. Process is put in place for the sake of process rather than improvement. Projects are poorly planned, stacked on top of each other and when they fail because of poor long term planning, the "project managers" (aka the analyst..too cheap to establish a PMO) are blamed. Work/life balance is not respected, you are expected to stay late (while managers leave before you) and expectation is to work through lunch. More of an organizational issue but stop shortchanging teams and expecting analysts to make up for the shortfall - or hiring consultants on short term contracts because you are trying to obfuscate employee costs with a different cost center. Turnover costs money, analysts are not fungible assets as much as you'd like to treat them that way. Prospective candidates - buyer beware.
