Pros

-PTO/Bonuses -Working w/ clothes all day -First dibs on cute clothes for cheap -Good training system/concept, though it can be wildly hard to maintain as a manager and corporate expectations are unrealistic -Travel for company meetings

Cons

-Scheduling and hours: if you are a salaried employee aka a store manager, be prepared for them to take advantage of you and your time. You’re given a good amount of PTO but you can never use it! Scheduled for managers are very rigid, I maybe had one or two weekends days off during my 3 years w/ the company which is insane. I was also constantly working overtime and my days off but not being paid for it due to being salary and no one in corporate cared -Seniority is very important when it comes to “GA” which creates a cult-like company culture. People literally joke about “drinking the kool-aid”. -policies are inconsistently upheld company wide -the customers can be extremely aggressive verbally and physically and the company doesn’t seem to care enough about it. Employees have been physically assaulted and attacked in stores and corporate has the most lax, insensitive response and coaches it’s managers to do the same. -SO political

Pros

you learn a lot about clothes

Cons

literally the worst job i can possibly imagine. you’re expected to be on top of register, buying in clothes, customers stealing, dressing room, talking to the customers on the floor, counting in and out the money, etc 100% all of the time. they expect you to overextend yourself the entire shift. i have never had to be on top of so many things in my life. i have more responsibilities than the MANAGERS at my last job do for far less pay. and we are in downtown portland so we get a lot of theft and have to deescalate mental health crises constantly. every employee i’ve talked to has agreed with me that they’ve never felt like a bad employee before working here. i pride myself on being smart and helpful and quickly learning the rules of any environment im in but i’ve never felt more stupid in my life. there is literally no time to take a breath in the entire 8hr shift
