Pros

I had a total of three interviews- one over the phone with a store manager in Columbia, South Carolina ; one with the regional manager; and an in person with my store manager. They all went very well, and I was made an offer within a few days. When she called me at home with her offer, it was explained that this was a "hire from within" company. I was familiar with this term but I still wonder why I wasn't told that when I first applied for management. Anyway, she went on to say she would start me out as a bear builder making a meager manager's wage of $9.32 per hour. She assured me that I would be promoted and making $10.25 after three months……then she added "probably a lot sooner". I was a little worried about starting from the bottom again after finally making my way to management, but it seemed like such a friendly and exciting place to work that I accepted.

Cons

The offer to be floor manager was taken away very soon after I started. I endured three stressful months of unethical treatment, unfulfilled promises, secrecy and lies. No one told me I would have to compete and my performance was rated good overall. The offer was made clear in the beginning and then taken away with no explanation. It has been a real eye-opening experience to say the least and I feel like three months of life has been wasted by the people in charge of store 092 in Winston Salem, NC.
