Pros
- There are some awesome people at Bustle who really believe in feminism and who want to make a difference - The pay is slightly better than what you'd expect at a legacy publication - There are some fun in-office events - BDG is making good money now, which allows the company to do more impactful work. - you can learn a lot of skills that are valuable across the industry
Cons
- Work-life balance is non-existent in some parts of the company. Some positions require 10+ hour-long days, to the detriment of mental health and personal enrichment - HR is not supportive or helpful - office is very white - no diversity - No training for new managers, so many are ill-equipped and develop toxic management styles - some positions have no clear outline for advancement; can make you feel like a cog in the machine - no pay transparency. Creates lots of pay inequity, which is not good for a feminist workplace - Selling feminism always has serious drawbacks
