Pros

Good resources? Continuing educational credits are available Good for young fresh out of college students.

Cons

Training is a joke. I was thrown into appointments with very little explanation of responsibility. No detailed training plan from day one, but a month prior you need to provide all credentialing information without pay. Kind of a “wing it”approach. Was told I needed to show a certain amount of time on system, but not given instructions on how to do that. Parents were not told of changes to the case until the last minute. The cases I had been given had been changed hands multiple times within months. Coworkers pounced on new clinician to take over their already filled caseloads. The company may not have a “waitlist” but families certainly wait for services. *not likely to happen again but* my third week there was zero management or veteran staff available to answer questions in the field. I felt unable to answer parents questions or field concerns which makes both myself and the company look incompetent. You are not able to use PTO in your first 90days of employment and the medical coverage stinks. The schedules were all over the place. Lots of promises and no delivery. The orientation week was a joke. If you are a person who has moved from a BT/RBT to a BCBA you are treated way better then a new hire BCBA. The effort put into congratulating the folks promoted over the effort of new hires was laughable. Almost a second thought like “oh yah we hired these folks too”. Did not feel welcomed as a new hire at all.

Butterfly Effects Response

Hello, I am sorry you had such a negative experience at Butterfly Effects. Your review is one I have never encountered before from a BCBA. I want every BCBA (and person) that works at Butterfly Effects to feel supported, valued, and professionally satisfied. It seems the local management did not provide the support you needed during the early part of your employment. Please feel free to contact me and discuss your concerns. Although our BCBA retention rate is very high, I want to listen and learn to make improvements. Dr. Steve Woolf, BCBA-D
